Suggestions on How To Conserve Power
More power is wasted daily in the US than in any other nation worldwide. With environmental issues such as pollution and the depletion of the ozone layer, we have to be extremely conscious of the amount of energy we are using.(Visit Another Article: http://shelligad.insanejournal.com/5410.html) Here, we are going to talk about several things that you and I can do to not just save energy but save some money in the process. These are really easy things that we all can do, you simply have to make the choice to do them in order to help the Earth and ourselves.

A simple thing you can do is to simply turn off the lights when you exit a room. A lot of people tend to leave leave lights switched on in a room when they know they are coming back, perhaps in ten or fifteen minutes. Leaving the room empty with the lights turned on can lead to as much as thirty minutes or more of consumed electricity if done a couple of times a day. While you squandering what could be thirty minutes of electrical energy every day may not seem like much, know that millions of other people are doing it as well. If you total the minutes for the year, that would be approximately 182 hours of electrical energy just for one light in one room for every individual that does this. Let's suppose we consume approximately 182 hours of electricity yearly and we multiply that by one million people. The amount adds up to a stunning 182 million hours of consumed electrical energy that is in essence coming from one single room in every person's household. Besides leaving the lights switched on when leaving a room, most of us turn the lights on when going inside a room. It's one thing many people do automatically. I often find myself doing the very same thing also. The problem is that even during the day when you don't need the light since you're getting more than enough sunlight to light up the room. And nonetheless, we come into a reasonably lit room and flip the light switch to on. And on top of that, because of the natural light coming in, we tend to forget we switched the room light on in the first place and leave it on for the rest of the day. You just have to make the extra effort to not switch the lights on if there is adequate natural light coming in.

Another huge problem is people leaving things like TVs and radios turned on the entire day even if they are not in the same room. I holler at my mom every time I visit and she has her TV on but isn't even watching it. Just imagine the amount of electrical energy being consumed. Hence, if you're not in the room, turn off the telly. These are only some really simple hints that can go a long way to conserve electrical power and help save our planet. It doesn't take much to do what we explained but if every person does it, irrespective of how little it may appear, it will have a big positive result.
